These are great for your kinder reader! Small words and easy to read. The stories are just like the rest of the Bob Books series. It comes with 12 books. Pictures include the box and pictures of the box itself, how it opens, and then the insides of some of the books. My son is in kindergarten and loves reading these little books. I hardly have to help him and I find them very age appropriate. He loves finishing a book on his own.. it encourages him to keep reading. I plan on buying the entire series (we have been reading from the library until this point.).

Bob Books First Stories eBook Lynn Maslen Kertell Dana Sullivan Reviews

We started bob’s book over the summer as soon as my son turned 4. He quickly finished the first set and we moved on to this set.

At first when you read the books, your first impression of it would be- this is soooo boring. But surprisingly the repetition of the words creates a simple story that attracts your little one’s Attention. My son loves reading. It’s all about practice and routine reading. He is confident and loves to read to his baby brother.
My 5-year-old son loves these books. As he was just learning to read, the Bob books were the only ones that we found that progressed at just the right pace, keeping him interested and challenged, but not overwhelmed. These books use phonics, simple sight words, and a steady progression to teach reading. I know of no better books for the child who is just learning to read.
My little guy has been having trouble lifting off. These books have helped him in his learning to read journey significantly. We bought 5 sets and every day we read a box full. Reading one box a couple of days in a row to begin with helped (nice to feel confident, since he did just read them the day before). There are a few sentences that would be more natural written another way and before we're done I will have added a few things to them. The illustrations are nice and the repetition helps with memorizing the words. Would highly recommend this books to teach reading.
A friend had recommended these books to me as my daughter was going into Kindergarten and I had a panic attack that she had only minimal sight word recognition. these things really are a miracle - within a few weeks, she was easily reading through the books and we were onto the next set. The pictures are a bit goofy, wish they were a bit more normal looking. (The people are made of different shapes, rather than looking like people. She would get confused because seh couldn't remember if "Matt" was a triangle or a square)
These little stories are just perfect. My son can read them on his own, and is very proud of himself. He will count how many he's done and how many he has to go in the box. I've purchased quite a few of these sets, and my son is ahead of his class with regard to reading skills. Can't definitively give credit to the books, but they definitely help. He's now 5, but I've had him reading Bob Books since he was 4. They aren't the most exciting stories in the world, but it's easy to make them seem exciting or silly with a little one. I always read them with him, because he does still make mistakes and I don't want incorrect concepts reinforced. Each story & set builds on what was introduced in the previous ones, so they learn a new sound and then repeat, repeat, repeat!
We love this set. We have two other sets of early readers books and have to say that this Bob Books and the Beginning Readers Bob Books sets have proven to be favorites with a child who is just learning to read. The first book our little read was from Rhonda's Readers and was quite small. It was a perfect first step. As we continued, I found these sets seem to be the ones LO goes back to over and over. They are in a box, which I honestly think ups the appeal for LO, though they are also a great length with just the right amount of words on each page. I also like that there is a page in the beginning that tells which main sounds will be worked on in that book. This allows littles the opportunity to focus a bit and know what is coming, to a certain extent. I think it helps to know there are limits to what they will be asked to do, yet the pages are challenging enough to make them work to read. There are not too many words on each page and the books build as you move through the set and into the other available sets. We are very happy with these books and saw an immediate increase in reading interest when we get them. Highly recommend.
The Bob Books have helped my 5 year old daughter learn to read on her own. She would get very frustrated when she couldn't read all of the words in a book, then started telling me she didn't want to read with me anymore. Bob Books are wonderful for children who want to read on their own, but are not ready. The stories in this set are cute and a nice break between the level 2 set and level 3.
